Hounds Ranked 28th in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Top 30

TUCSON, Ariz. --- The Moravian College baseball team has been ranked 28th in the nation by Collegiate Baseball in the 2015 NCAA Division III Top 30 Preseason Poll.

"It is an honor for us to be ranked in the preseason poll," commented ninth-year Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "The players have worked very hard over the past few years to make our team one of the tops in the region and to compete on a national level, and the rankings show that their hard work is paying off. We look forward to doing what we can to remain in the poll once the regular season begins."

The Greyhounds are coming off one of the most successful campaigns in school history in 2014 when the squad won a school-record 32 games, was nationally-ranked for the first time in school history, defeated four nationally-ranked opponents including two in the top 10, was the top-ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the NCAA and earned an at-large berth and top seed in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Misericordia University at PNC Field in Moosic.

Engelhardt returns 22 players including seven of eight starters in the field and three starters on the mound in 2015. He has put the team up to the challenge once again this spring as the Greyhounds will play one of the strongest schedules in the nation.

Moravian will face five teams in the Collegiate Baseball poll during the year including four straight games in early March. The Hounds will make a road trip to No. 15 Kean on March 4 before taking on No. 10 Marietta (Ohio) College, No. 22 Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College and No. 30 Heidelberg (Ohio) University at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida the next week.

The Greyhounds also have No. 13 Rowan University on the schedule again in 2015 along with five games against teams that received votes in the poll – Montclair State University, DeSales University, Haverford College, Keystone College and Misericordia University.

Moravian begins practice in late January and will open the campaign on Saturday, February 21 with a game versus Guilford (N.C.) College at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
