Greyhounds Headed to Delaware Valley for Inaugural Centennial-MAC Bowl Series on November 21

LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College football team will be heading to Delaware Valley University on Saturday, November 21 for one of the two games in the Inaugural Centennial Conference-Middle Atlantic Conference Bowl Series at Lipinski Field at James Work Memorial Stadium in Doylestown. Kickoff time will be announced on Monday.

The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced on November 5, 2015 that they are partnering for two postseason football games between member institutions. The Inaugural Centennial-MAC Bowl Series will involve the top two teams from each conference that are not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship.

The top team from each conference that is not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship will host the second best team from the opposing conference not moving on to NCAAs in one game of the series. Delaware Valley, 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the MAC, earned the right to host with a head-to-head win over Stevenson University, which will play at Muhlenberg College in the other CC-MAC Bowl Series game after defeating the Greyhounds on Saturday to earn the head-to-head win as both schools were also 8-2 overall and 7-2 in Centennial Conference action.

The two conferences will also support the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnership with Special Olympics by donating 25 percent of ticket revenue generated during the Bowl Series to the organization. Giving back to local and regional communities not only adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III, but also provides a venue for passion and service. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for students. Special Olympic athletes and children under 6 will be admitted for free. There will also be short-sleeved gray Bowl Series logo t-shirts for sale at $12 at each game.

"We are ecstatic that we have a chance to play in the Inaugural CC-MAC Bowl Series game as a reward for our 8-2 regular season," commented Moravian College Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "It is great that our players, especially the senior class that has put so much work on and off the field to help the program improve from 2-8 in each of their first two seasons to 8-2 now. They have the chance to win that ninth game, just something only one other team in school history has done."

The Greyhounds started the year with two straight wins before falling to nationally-ranked and Centennial Conference champion Johns Hopkins University. Moravian then ran of six straight wins, the longest winning streak for the program since a seven-game streak to open the 2004 season, to reach 8-1 for just the second time in school history. The only other team for the Blue & Grey that reached 8-1 was the 1988 team that won the MAC Championship and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The 2015 team and the 1988 squad two of the five teams to win eight games in the 91-year history of the program, and only the 1988 team won more than eight games.

The Hounds will be playing the Aggies for the first time since 2006, Moravian's last season in the MAC before joining the Centennial Conference as an associate member for football. Delaware Valley won that last meeting 39-0 on October 7, 2006 while the Greyhounds lead the overall series 27-12-2 in the 41 previous meetings. Moravian's last win against Delaware Valley was a 33-13 triumph in Doylestown on October 19, 2002.
