Field Hockey Selects Quartet as Captains for 2018 Campaign

2018 Moravian College Field Hockey Captains

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey squad has selected senior Elizabeth Hrehovcik, juniors Sara Cruz and Olivia Schlofer and sophomore Ashley Kunsman as its team captains for the 2018 season.

"This year we had four players voted into the captain honor," second year Head Coach Kristen Gillis announced. "All four have proven themselves over not only the last week but last spring as well. Beth has seen the program grow over the last four years and is a great voice of knowledge, while Sara is a force to be reckoned with on the front line and carries positivity through all that she does. Olivia has more heart and determination than any player on our team and Ashley is the steady voice in the goal that the players lean on. I am excited to see them take on this role and lead this team to many accomplishments this year."

Hrehovcik is a three-year starter for the Hounds as a forward. She has contributed 10 goals and an assist in 51 career matches while netting a pair of game-winning goals.

Cruz will be in her third season as a starter on Moravian's midfielder and forward lines this fall. Cruz has netted one goal in 34 career contests.

Schlofer will also be a three-year starter this year for the Greyhounds in the midfielder. She led the squad last season with eight goals, and Schlofer has contributed nine goals and an assist in 34 career matches.

Kunsman returns for her second season as the Hounds' starting goalie after posting a 3.32 goals-against average in her debut campaign to go with 167 saves in 1,117 minutes of action.

Moravian is scheduled to start the 2018 season on Friday, August 31 with a non-conference match at DeSales University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
