Four Hounds in Double Figures as Moravian Tops CCNY at Ollie Gelston Classic

MONTCLAIR, N.J. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team had four players in double figures led by 14 points from senior guard Sean Hanna as the Greyhounds posted an 87-68 win over City College of New York on the first day of the Ollie Gelston Classic hosted by Montclair State University Friday evening.

Senior forward Brandon McGuire had his second straight double-double of the season for Moravian with 13 points and 12 rebounds to go with two assists and two blocked shots, and McGuire became the 16th player in school history to grab 500 career rebounds. Sophomore guard Jimmy Murray also netted 13 points to go with three rebounds while sophomore forward Oneil Holder contributed 11 points and five boards.

Hanna also had four steals and three rebounds in the game for the Greyhounds while junior guard Matt Cardonne had nine points. Freshman guard C.J. Barnes tossed in eight points while senior guard Isaiah Jennings and sophomore forward Jake McGee each scored seven points. Jennings added four assists, two steals and a pair of rebounds while McGee pulled down six rebounds. Sophomore guard Will Brazukas added five assists, five rebounds and two points for the Blue and Grey while freshman forward John Hargraves netted his firs three career points.

The Greyhounds, now 1-1 on the season, opened the scoring with Holder making a lay-up just 13 seconds into action, and Hanna would push the lead to 4-0. McGuire grabbed his 500th career rebound just 1:26 into the contest off of a missed free throw. Murray connected on a three-pointer to give the Greyhounds a 10-2 lead with 18:19 on the clock, and Moravian's lead hit double digits at 27-17 on a three-pointer by Cardonne with 9:41 before the intermission. The Blue and Grey's lead reached 15 points twice, the second time on two free throws by Hanna with 7:41 on the scoreboard. CCNY cut the Moravian lead to 38-34 before the Hounds headed to the locker room with a 42-34 advantage.

The Hounds led the entire second half after CCNY cut the deficit to five points shortly after the half began. McGee hit a three-pointer to push the advantage to 52-40 with 15:13 to play, and the Blue and Grey led by as many as 21 points, 76-55, after a three-pointer by Cardonne with 4:49 remaining.

Moravian will be back in action on the second day of the Ollie Gelston Classic at Montclair State University on Saturday, November 19 when the Greyhounds play Brooklyn College with tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m.
