McGuire Selected as Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior forward Brandon McGuire has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

McGuire, who earned the honor for the second time this season, averaged 25.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Greyhounds. He shot 73.3 percent from the field (33-of-45), 40 percent beyond the three-point line (4-of-10) and 83.3 percent at the foul line (5-for-6) while averaging 31.0 minutes per game to go with five assists and three steals.

McGuire had 18 points and 10 rebounds in an 84-51 win at Marywood University, and he added his sixth double-double of the season and the 25th of his career with 22 points and 16 rebounds in a 94-92 double-overtime win at Bridgewater (Va.) College as the Greyhounds won their seventh straight game. McGuire became the 21st player in Moravian history to reach 1,000 career points on a lay-up with 2:05 left in the second half against Bridgewater. McGuire finished the week with a career-high 35 points to go with nine rebounds in a 105-100 loss to Eastern Mennonite University at Bridgewater's Don Glick Classic.

"Brandon has played at a very high level thru the first part of our season," stated Head Coach Justin Potts. "He has been consistent at both ends of the floor, which is reflected in his numbers. These awards are team awards because Brandon's teammates have done a great job of getting him the ball in areas he can be successful. Brandon had scored it well and rebounded but his defense and ability to distribute the ball are equally impactful on our team."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Monday, December 19 in a non-conference game at NCAA Division I Lafayette College tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
