Murray Selected as Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore guard Jimmy Murray has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Murray helped the Greyhounds to a 2-0 week in Landmark Conference action by averaging 17.5 points per game. Murray connected on 13-of-21 shots from the field (61.9 percent), and he was 8-for-12 (66.7 percent) beyond the three-point line to go with three assists, three blocked shots and two steals for the week.

Murray had 14 points, a steal and a blocked shots in an 84-69 win over Goucher College to begin the week. He then shot 8-of-12 including 4-of-5 on three-pointers for 21 points in the Greyhounds' 80-77 win over No. 11 Susquehanna University, the program's first win over a ranked team since December 2001. Murray added three assists, two blocked shots and a steal in the victory while playing 32 minutes.

"Jimmy has played very well for us all season especially in conference," stated Head Coach Justin Potts. "As I have said before, this is a team award. Our guys have done a good job getting Jimmy the ball where he can be successful. I'm proud of how hard Jimmy has worked during the season to improve his game. His overall play has been very consistent and important to our growth as a team this season. It's great to see his hard work pay off."

Moravian, which is 13-6 overall and 6-2 in Landmark Conference action, is in a three-way tie for first in conference play, and the Greyhounds are scheduled to close out a four-game home stand on Wednesday, February 1 when they host The University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
