Moravian to Host 37th Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic on December 30 & 31

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball squad will host the 37th Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic in Johnston Hall on December 30 and 31.

Moravian will play Penn State Lehigh Valley at 4:30 p.m. in Friday's first game while Cabrini University and Montclair State University will play the 6:30 p.m. game on Friday. The Red Hawks and the Lions will play on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. while the Greyhounds and the Cavaliers finish the tournament with a 5:30 p.m. game.

The first two years of the tournament were played as a season-opening tournament before switching to a January tournament during the 1980-81 season. The tournamnent was not held the last two years due to a conflict with the Landmark Conference schedule.

Host Moravian has a 49-23 record in the 36-year history of the tournament, and the Hounds have won 17 tournament titles including the last tournament held in January of 2014. Montclair State and Penn State Lehigh Valley are in the tournament for the second time while Cabrini is making its debut appearance.

The Greyhounds have had just 11 days off since a game at NCAA Division I Lafayette College on December 19. After starting the season with a loss, Moravian ran off six straight wins and headed into the holiday with a 7-3 mark and a 1-0 slate in Landmark Conference action.

Moravian is led by head coach Justin Potts, who is in his second season at Moravian with a record of 18-17. The Hounds are 3-0 all-time against Penn State Lehigh Valley and have a record of 2-0 versus Montclair State. Moravian has never played Cabrini.

Senior forward Brandon McGuire is averaging a double-double of 20.0 points and 12.1 rebounds to lead the Greyhounds. McGuire is shooting 68.8 percent (88-of-128) from the floor to go with 19 assists, 14 steals, 12 three-pointers and eight blocked shots. Sophomores forward Oneil Holder and guard Jimmy Murray are both netting 10.4 points per contest with Holder adding 51 rebounds, 16 assists and 10 three-pointers and Murray contributing 16 three-pointers and nine boards.

Senior guard Sean Hanna is a fourth Greyhound averaging in double digits at 10.3 points per outing to go with 25 assists, 18 rebounds, 14 steals and nine three-pointers. Freshman guard C.J. Barnes has 88 points, 29 rebounds, 15 three-pointers and 15 assists while junior guard Matt Cardonne has added 57 points, 15 three-pointers and nine rebounds.

Sophmore forward Jake McGee has contributed 44 points, 19 rebounds and seven three-pointers while freshman forward John Hargraves has 43 points and 20 boards. Senior guard Isaiah Jennings has added 42 points, 30 assists, 20 rebounds and 14 steals while sophomore guard Will Brazukas has 26 assists, 24 rebounds, 23 points and 16 steals. Junior guard Khalil Rhett has added 25 points and 18 boards.

Cabrini University from Radnor, Pennsylvania rode into the holiday break with a 5-3 record. The Cavaliers, who had the shortest break after playing NCAA Division I Lehigh University on December 22, compete in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, and are 3-0 in conference play. Cabrini is headed by Tim McDonald, who is in his third season at the helm.

Junior forward Tyheim Monroe leads the Cavaliers by averaging a double-double of 21.4 points and 16.3 rebounds per game to go along with 21 assists, 11 blocked shots and seven steals. Junior forward Deryl Bagwell is adding 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest with 18 assists, 15 steals and nine blocked shots while sophomore guard Ivan Robinson is contributing 12.3 points per outing with 23 rebounds, 22 asists, 13 three-pointers and 12 steals.

Senior guard Ryan Charity is scoring 11.1 points per game for Cabrini with 29 rebounds, 23 assists and 16 steals while junior guard Kane McGovern has an average of 9.0 points per contest in limited action. Junior guard Joe Mastardi has contributed 59 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals while sophomore forward Kwame Dokes has added 37 points and 33 rebounds for the Cavaliers.

Montclair State University from Montclair, New Jersey entered the holiday break with a 5-5 record. The Red Hawks compete in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, and are 3-2 in conference play this winter. Montclair State is coached by Marlon Sears, who is in his second season.

Senior forward Brandon Channer leads the Red Hawks with an average of 16.1 points per game to go along with an average of 6.3 rebounds per contest, 13 three-pointers, 14 assists and 20 steals. Junior forward Rahsaan Johnson has averages of 9.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per outing to go with 12 assists while senior guard Daniel Ramis is neeting 8.8 points per game with 23 three-pointers, 20 rebounds, and eight assists.

Junior guard Jovanni Chatham is contributing 8.3 points per contest for Montclair State to go with 22 rebounds, 22 assists and 14 steals while junior center/forward Jarrett Bogus has 67 points, 40 rebounds, 11 three-pointers and 10 steals. Freshman guard/forward Justin Porter has added 56 points, 39 rebounds, 17 assists and 10 steals while sophomore forward Jordan Roberson has 62 rebounds and 50 points. Sophomore guard Isaiah Channer has contributed 12 assists and 14 steals for the Red Hawks.

Penn State Lehigh Valley from Center Valley, Pennsylvania took a 5-3 record into the holiday break. The Nittany Lions compete in the Penn State University Athletic Conference, and are 3-2 in conference play in 2016-17. Penn State Lehigh Valley is led by Mike DeCarolis, who is in his second season.

Senior guard Jordan Young leads five Lions in double figures at 15.6 points per game, and Young has added 28 rebounds, 25 assists and nine steals. Junior center/forward A.J. Molettiere is contributing 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest with 22 three-pointers, 16 steals, seven blocked shots and six assists while junior forward Jonathan Buie is averaging a double-double of 12.1 points and 11.0 rebounds to go with eight assists and eight steals.

Junior guard James Middleton was scoring 10.5 points per game to go with seven rebounds before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. Junior forward Sekou Mangassabou is scoring 10.3 points per contest with 29 rebounds and 11 blocked shots while freshman forward Othniel Nyamekye has added 59 points and 37 rebounds. Junior guard/forward Shane Schmidt has contributed 57 points, 20 rebounds and 13 three-pointers for the Nittany Lions.
