Hounds Hit from Long Range to Earn Road Victory at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team connected on 12-of-16 three-pointers and had four players score in double figures as the Greyhounds posted a 78-64 Landmark Conference victory at The University of Scranton Wednesday evening.

The Hounds improve to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in Landmark Conference play as Moravian reached the 10-win mark for a second straight winter under second-year Head Coach Justin Potts.

Senior forward Brandon McGuire paced the Greyhounds with 20 points while shooting 8-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-3 on three-pointers to go along with eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. McGuire moved up to 15th in school history in scoring with 1,122 points and eighth in rebounding with 649 boards. Sophomore forward Oneil Holder tossed in 12 points to go with seven rebounds and a pair of steals while sophomore forward Jake McGee had 11 points including going 3-for-3 beyond the three-point line and three rebounds. Sophomore guard Jimmy Murray was the fourth Moravian player in double figures with 10 points to go with four assists and a pair of rebounds.

Sophomore guard Nicholas Casazza netted a career-high nine points for the Blue and Grey with a pair of three-pointers while senior guard Isaiah Jennings had six points and three boards. Senior guard Sean Hanna contributed five points, three rebounds and a pair of assists while freshman guard C.J. Barnes tossed in three points with three rebounds. Sophomore guard Will Brazukas added two points, three assists and two boards while freshman forward John Hargraves pulled down two rebounds.

Holder opened the game with a quick lay-up for Moravian, and the teams traded the lead back-and-forth over the next 10 minutes with the score knotted at 17-17 midway through the first half after a three-pointer by Murray. The Royals pulled ahead by five points, 22-17, before McGuire tied the game at 22-22 with a lay-up near the five-minute mark. Scranton outscored the Greyhounds, 16-10, over the remainder of the half to head to the locker room leading Moravian, 38-32.

Jennings opened the second half with a lay-up, and a three-pointer by Hanna had the Blue and Grey down just one, 38-37. McGuire tied the game again at 40-40 with a three-pointer with 16:51 still to play. Holder would give Moravian the lead for good with a free throw at 15:47, and a three-pointer by McGee had the Hounds up 44-40.  Casazza pushed the Moravian advantage to seven, 53-46, with 11:15 left, and the Greyhounds' edge reached double digits for the first time, 62-51, on a jumper from Holder with 5:59 remaining.

Moravian will open a four-game home stand on Saturday, January 21 when the Greyhounds host Juniata College in a Landmark Conference contest in Johnston Hall with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m.
