McGuire Selected as Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for Third Time in 2016-17

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior forward Brandon McGuire has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

McGuire, who earned Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this winter, helped the Greyhounds to a 2-0 record last week in Landmark Conference action by averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds during the two contests. McGuire was 16-for-21 from the field (76.2 percent), 6-of-7 beyond the three-point line (85.7 percent) and made his only free throw attempt while adding four assists, six steals and two blocked shots in 71 minutes of action.

McGuire had 20 points, eight boards, two assists and three steals in the Greyhounds 78-64 win at The University of Scranton. McGuire was 3-for-3 on three-pointers in the victory as Moravian was 12-of-16 behind the arc. McGuire then added 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocked shots in a 99-97 double overtime triumph over Juniata College.

"Brandon has played at a very high level this season," stated Head Coach Justin Potts. "He has been consistent scoring rebounding and defending for us. His versatility has impacted our team at both ends of the floor. This is a great honor for Brandon and our program. These awards are reflective of playing good team basketball. Brandon's leadership and commitment have been great examples for the young players in our program all season."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, January 25 when the Hounds host Goucher College in a Landmark Conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
