Novak Honored as Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for Third Time in 2017

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior pitcher Josie Novak has been honored as the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season for her performance this past Saturday.

Novak helped the No. 11 Greyhounds to a doubleheader sweep at Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action on Saturday as she picked up a win and a save in the two games. Novak allowed just two hits and two walks in 8.2 innings of action while striking out seven batters. She allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four batters in the first game, her sixth shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory. Novak then came on for the final 1.2 innings of the second contest, a 4-2 win, to record three strikeouts and her second save of the season.

"Josie is having possibly her best season so far helping us post shutouts in eight of her 12 starts," noted Head Coach John Byrne said. "Josie has continued to have good command of all of her pitches this year and is keeping opposing batters off balance with a mix of pitches."

Moravian, which is 20-2 overall and 6-0 in Landmark Conference play, is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 11 in a non-conference doubleheader at DeSales University with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Center Valley.
