LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian College softball team has moved up three spots and cracked into the Top 10 for the first time this season as the Greyhounds are now eighth in the nation in this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll.

The Hounds are 22-2 this spring under the direction of Head Coach John Byrne, who has a career mark of 772-229 in 24 years after coaching his 1,000th game at DeSales University on Tuesday. Byrne has led the program to 24 consecutive 20-win seasons along with 17 30-win campaigns and one 40-win season.

Moravian was ranked 17th in the 2017 NFCA Preseason Top 25 Poll, and the program has been ranked 16th, 17th, 14th for two weeks, tied for 13th, tied for 15th, and 11th in the first seven regular season polls before moving into the Top 10 this week. The last time Moravian was ranked in the Top 10 was the first regular season poll of 2011 when the Hounds were 10th and the program was seventh in the 2011 Preseason Poll. Moravian was ranked as the top team in the nation for two polls (a span of four weeks) during the 2004 season beginning on March 31, 2004.

The Greyhounds have swept their last five doubleheaders and six of seven doubleheaders since returning from the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida with a 9-1 mark. One of Moravian's victories in Florida was a 2-0 shutout over Wittenberg (Ohio) University, which is ranked 23rd in this week's poll.

The Blue and Grey have a doubleheader scheduled at Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday, April 25 and the Ducks received votes in the poll this week.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 13 when the squad hosts rival Muhlenberg College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field.
