Women's Basketball Runs in Women's 5K Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team competed in the Women's 5K Classic on October 13th on the Lehigh Parkway in Allentown.

The run, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary this year,is a unique community effort in the Greater Lehigh Valley. The overall mission of the Women's 5K Classic is to promote fitness among women and invite women to participate in running and walking to enhance their physical, mental and emotional well-being, to support women with breast and female cancers and their families and to contribute to funding for related programs and research in the Lehigh Valley and to educate women about cancer awareness, prevention and treatment.

Moravian finished second of 41 teams competing in the 5K run, and the weekend also included a 10K run and a 5K Comeptitive Walk. The Greyhounds had an average time of 25:12.71 for its top five runners, and freshman Steph Peterson was third in her age group with a time of 23:11.71, which was 15th of the 1,610 runners in the race.
