20 Moravian Student-Athletes Named to 2012-13 Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll

2013 Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has recognized 205 student-athletes including 20 from Moravian College by selecting them for the 2013 Winter Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions as well as associate member Marywood University in the sports of men's and women's swimming.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all winter student athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the winter season in good standing with their team. All eight Landmark Conference institutions placed at least ten athletes on the Academic Honor Roll and all six winter Landmark sports were represented on the team.

The Landmark Winter All-Academic Team, which features two male and two female student-athletes from each Landmark institution will be released later this season. In addition, a Senior Scholar Athlete will be chosen for each Landmark sport.

The Landmark Conference is in its six season of competition and includes eight institutions covering the mid-Atlantic region. The Landmark crowned six team championships this winter, and sent seven programs to either the NCAA or ECAC postseason as well as eight individuals to both the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field and Swimming & Diving Championships.

Moravian had student-athletes from three of its winter teams that compete in the conference with the men's indoor track team leading the way with eight honorees. The women's basketball program and the women's indoor track team each had six student-athletes each named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The men's indoor track team won the 2013 Landmark Conference Championship had two seniors named to the Landmark Conference Honor Roll – Travis King and Jacob Donchez. Juniors Craig Arner and David Cariello along with sophomores Dillon Farrell, Mike Hofmann, Chris Ossont and Parker Munson were also named to the Honor Roll. Cariello made the Landmark Conference First Team by winning the pole vault and 60-meter hurdles while King was a First Team selection on the winning 4x200-meter relay team and the Second Team in the triple jump. Farrell made the Second Team in the mile and 5,000-meter runs.

The women's basketball team finished their season with a record of 22-7, while qualifying for the Landmark Conference tournament as well as the ECAC South Championship. There was one senior on the team qualifying for the Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll, guard Katie Marakos. Junior guards Danielle Brogan, Alyssa Hann and Katie O'Rourke, junior forward Laura Jordan and sophomore guard Gina Farquhar also earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll. O'Rourke was also a member of the Landmark All-Conference First Team this winter.

The women's indoor track and field team won the 2013 Landmark Conference Championship, its sixth straight indoor conference title. Senior Emma Pacheco earned a spot on the Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll along with sophomores Dana Fineman, Jessica Goldberg, Allissa Hoffman, Emily Lambright and Brielle Sutter. Sutter earned All-Conference First Team honors as part of Moravian's winning 4x400-meter relay squad, and she was on the Second Team in the 200-meter dash.
