Joint Leaps to All-America Honors in Long Jump at NCAA Meet

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- Junior Kristopher Joint of the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team has earned All-America honors for the first time in his career with a sixth place finish in the long jump in the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships Friday at North Central College's Al B. Carius Track.

Joint had his best leap of the competition, 7.16 meters (23 feet, six inches) on his final jump of the meet after he had fallen out of the top eight that earn All-American honors. Joint had preliminary round jumps of 6.84, 6.99 and 6.85 meters. His 6.99-meter distance (22 feet, 11 ¼ inches), had him in seventh of the nine finalists to get another three attempts.

Joint was still seventh after a jump of 6.73 meters in his fourth attempt, but he fell to ninth after registering a 6.75-meter leap in his fifth jump. Joint hit the board hard and turned in his 7.16-meter jump to guarantee that he'd earn All-America honors in his first trip to the NCAA meet.

Joint earned the Greyhounds three points with his sixth place finish, and Moravian was in tied for 15th place after the first day's events were complete. For complete results, visit http://results.deltatiming.com/track/2013-ncaa-d3-indoor-championships.
