Six Greyhounds to Compete at 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. --- Moravian College has qualified six student-athletes, three males and three females, to compete at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin La Crosse from Thursday, May 23rd through Saturday, May 25th.

Junior Timothy Lorah is making his second trip to the national championships to compete in the javelin throw, and he just missed All-America honors last spring with a ninth place finish.  Lorah enters the meet ranked third in event with a toss of 65.68 meters (215 feet, six inches), and he will compete on Saturday at 1:40 p.m. EDT.

Senior Travis King and junior Kristopher Joint are both qualified in the triple jump. King is making his first appearance in the NCAA Championships while Joint is making his second trip to nationals this year after earning All-America honors in the long jump indoors back in March with a sixth place finish. Joint has the fifth best qualifying mark and a school and Landmark Conference record leap of 14.76 meters (48 feet, 5 ¼ inches) while King enters the meet tied for 13th with a season best of 14.52 meters (47 feet, 7 ¾ inches), the third best in school history. The duo is scheduled to compete on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. EDT.

Senior Micah Leonard is making her seventh appearance at the NCAA Championships and second this year after earning All-America honors for the fifth time in her career with a fifth place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor meet back in March. Leonard will be competing in the triple jump after qualifying fourth at a school and Landmark Conference record distance of 12.34 meters (40 feet, six inches). The triple jump is scheduled for Saturday at 4:20 p.m. EDT.

Sophomore Hailey Kester is making her first trip to the NCAA Championships to compete in the pole vault. Kester enters the meet tied for 13th with a career best height of 3.71 meters (15 feet, 5 ½ inches). Kester will be the first of Moravian's six competitors to compete with the pole vault scheduled for Thursday at 3:40 p.m. EDT.

Sophomore Brielle Sutter is also making her first trip to the NCAA meet to participate in the 400-meter dash. Sutter is 21st of the 22 entrants with a school record time of 57.06 seconds. The preliminaries for the 400-meter dash are scheduled for 6:50 p.m. Friday with the top eight competitors running in the finals on Saturday at 4:40 p.m.
