Joint Places 10th in Triple Jump at NCAA Indoor Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- Junior Kristopher Joint of the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team placed tenth in the triple jump on the second day of competition at the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by North Central (Ill.) College.

Joint had a long attempt of 14.58 meters (47 feet, ten inches) on his second attempt of the preliminaries, which was tied for the last spot in the finals. However, sophomore Jamie Ruginski of the University of Southern Maine had a longer second attempt to keep Joint from reaching the finals.

Joint registered a mark of 14.36 meters (47 feet, 1 1/2 inches) in his first attempt. Joint, who has been battling an ankle injury all season, was just over the line on his final attempt of the preliminaries and did not register a mark. Joint was competing in his second event of the NCAA meet after earning All-America honors in the long jump Friday on his last jump of the competition.

Moravian scored three points in the team competition. The Greyhounds finished in a tie for 45th of 63 teams scoring a point. For complete results, visit http://results.deltatiming.com/track/2013-ncaa-d3-indoor-championships.
