11 Former Greyhounds Named to MAC 100 Century Teams in Men's & Women's Track & Field

MAC 100 Century Teams

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's and women's track & field teams have 11 former student-athletes named to the MAC 100 Century Team. The six women all come from the 1994-2003 era while the five men are split between the 1974-1993 era and the 1994-2012 era.

As a part of the MAC 100 celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing the top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. The number of individuals selected per team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter.

Jeff Cullingford ('90) was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time NCAA Division III National Champion in 1990, winning the 800-meter run both indoors and outdoors. Cullingford was a four-time All-American during his career, three times in the 800-meter run and once in the 4x400-meter relay. He won 15 MAC individual championships including ten indoors. Cullingford was inducted into Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2000.

Dan Reichenbach ('91) was also a four-year letter winner, and he was a three-time All-American for the Greyhounds including the long jump indoors and outdoors in 19889 and the high jump outdoors in 1989. Reichenbach was a seven-time NCAA qualifier and won a total of five MAC individual championships including the high jump indoors in 1989 and outdoors in 1991, the long jump indoors and outdoors in 1989 and the triple jump outdoors in 1989. Reichenbach was inducted into Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2001.

Greg O'Neil ('94) was a four-year letterwinner for Moravian and the 1994 NCAA Division III National Champion in the 55-meter hurdles indoors. O'Neil was a four-time All-American, twice in the 55-meter hurdles indoors and twice in the decathlon outdoors. He won eight MAC individual titles including the 55-meter hurdles three times, the 110-meter hurdles three times, the outdoor high jump in 1994 and the 4x400-meter relay in 1994. O'Neil was inducted into Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2004.

Mike Natale ('95) was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time All-American in the javelin including a runner-up finish in 1994. Natale was a four-time NCAA qualifier in the javelin, and he was the MAC Champion in the event in 1992 and 1995. Natale also played football for four years for the Greyhounds

Ozzie Brown ('10) was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time NCAA Division III National Champion, winning the decathlon outdoors in 2008 and the long jump indoors the same year. Brown was a four-time All-American including the 55-meter hurdles in 2007 and 2008, and he was a nine-time NCAA qualifier. Brown won a total of 17 MAC individual championships with 11 outdoors in just three years. As a senior, Brown competed in Moravian's first year as a member of the Landmark Conference and added ten more individual conference titles, five indoors and five outdoors, for a total of 27 individual conference titles in his career.

The women's track & field team had six members named to the MAC 100 Century team starting with Jennifer Frantz ('95), who was a four-year letterwinner. Frantz was a four-time All-American including the triple jump twice outdoors and once indoors and the long jump outdoors in 1994.  She was an eight-time NCAA qualifier, and Frantz won five MAC individual titles including the triple jump outdoors three times. Frantz was inducted into Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2007.

Christina Scherwin ('05) was a three-year letterwinner while sitting out her senior season to prepare to compete in the 2004 Olympics for her native Denmark. Scherwin was a two-time NCAA Division III National Champion in the javelin in 2002 and 2003, and she was also a two-time Olympian in 2004 and 2008. Scherwin was a four-time All-American including the shot put indoors and outdoors in 2003, and she was a six-time NCAA qualifier. Scherwin won nine MAC individual championships including the javelin twice, the shot put five times, three indoors, the discus in 2003 and the long jump indoors in 2001. Schwerin was also a two-time Penn Relays champion in the javelin after a knee injury at the event as freshman ended her season.

Emily Shertzer ('02) was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time All-American outdoors in the 10,000-meter run in 2000 and the inaugural 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2002. Shertzer was a three-time NCAA qualifier on the track, and she captured a total of 16 MAC individual championships including winning the 10,000-meter run outdoors all four years. Shertzer won the 5,000-meter run at the MAC meet three times indoors and three times outdoors as well, and she was a Verizon Academic All-American Second Team in 2001-02.

Tara Wartman ('98) was a four-year letterwinner and an All-American in the 3,000-meter run outdoors in 1997. Wartman was a four-time NCAA qualifier including the 10,000-meter run outdoors in 1996 and the 5,000-meter run both indoors and outdoors in 1997. Wartman was a 13-time MAC individual champion including winning the 10,000-meter run outdoors all four years. Wartman was inducted into the Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2012.

Tracy Wartman ('96) was also a four-year letter winner, and she was the NCAA Division III National Champion in the 1,500-meter run outdoors in 1994. Wartman was a four-time All-American including three times outdoors and the 1,500-meter run indoors in 1995. Wartman was a three-time MAC individual champion, winning the 1,500-meter run twice and the 3,000-meter run once. Wartman was inducted into Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2006.

Heidi Wolfsberger Peoples ('02) was a four-year letterwinner and was the NCAA Division III National Champion in the 1,500-meter run indoors in 2001. Wolfsberger was an eight-time All-American on the track including five times in the 1,500-meter run, and she qualified for the NCAA Championships ten times. Wolfsberger captured 14 MAC individual championships during her career and was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the conference meet three times. Wolferberger was on Verizon Academic All-American First Team three-times during her career, and she was inducted into Moravian's Hall of Fame in 2012.
