Joint & King Win Jumps at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team competed at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational Saturday and had two individual champions and four ECAC Division III qualifying performances.

Between the Greyhounds and the host Mules, the meet was also scored as a dual meet for the annual Matte Award with the Moravian men winning 93-92.

Junior Kristopher Joint won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 7.02 meters (23 feet, ½ inch), a distance that is fourth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 20 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Joint was also the runner-up in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.19 meters (46 feet, 6 ¾ inches) that is also fourth on the TFRRS list in the event.

Senior Travis King won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 14.22 meters (46 feet, eight inches); however, the mark does not improve King's season best which is already second on the TFRRS list.

Senior Jonathan Heberling was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.61 meters (21 feet, 8 ¼ inches)) while freshman Albert Myers was seventh at 6.55 meters (21 feet, six inches). Sophomore Chris Ossont took fourth in the triple jump at 12.94 meters (42 feet, 5 ½ inches).

Freshman Ryan Karnopp and Chris Voda were tied for second in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11 ¼ inches).

On the track, junior David Cariello was second in the 110-meter high hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.43 seconds, which is tied for 31st on the TFRRS list. Myers tied for second in the 100-meter dash in 11.23 seconds, and he was tied for seventh in the 200-meter dash in 23.04 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of junior Yacine Zerdoum, sophomore Travis Dorsa and freshman Gavin Bailey and Tyler Dwyer placed fifth in 3:29.79.

Bailey took seventh in the 400-meter dash in 50.68 seconds while senior Evan Lick was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.34. Freshman Jeremy Rigotti finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 16:54.09.

Junior Frank Yannotta was sixth in the discus with a toss of 40.58 meters (133 feet, two inches) while sophomore Jeffrey Gallagher placed ninth at 38.64 meters (126 feet, nine inches). On Friday afternoon, Gallagher took tenth in the hammer throw competed at DeSales University with a toss of 34.69 meters (113 feet, nine inches).

Moravian is scheduled to return to action when the squad hosts the Coach P Open on Friday and Saturday, April 12th and 13th at Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field with action starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
