Lorah, Bailey, Ossont Lead Greyhounds at F&M Coach I Open

LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team ran a split squad on Saturday and sent student-athletes to compete at the non-scoring Coach I Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.

For the men's squad, junior Timothy Lorah turned in one of the top performances of the meet, finishing second in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.43 meters (44 feet, ¾ inches) and a fourth place in the shot put at 12.55 meters (41 feet, 2 ¼ inches). Freshman Gavin Bailey was the runner-up in the long jump at 6.10 meters (20 feet, ¼ inches), and he was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 53.75 seconds and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.87 seconds.

Sophomore Chris Ossont finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.40 meters, 40 feet, 8 ¼ inches), and he also took fifth in the long jump at 5.68 meters (18 feet, 7 ¾ inches). Freshman Ryan Sickler finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.68 meters (five feet, six inches, and he also placed sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.44 seconds.

In other throwing results for the Greyhounds, senior Tyler Pottertonwas third in the weight throw with a toss of 13.29 meters (43 feet, 7 ¼ inches) while senior Phillip Torres was sixth at a distance of 11.94 meters (39 feet, 2 ¼ inches). Junior Frank Yannotta placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.52 meters (41 feet, one inch) while sophomore Parker Munson was ninth at 11.40 meters (37 feet, five inches).

Sophomore Travis Dorsa took third in the 200-meter dash in 23.97 seconds, and he was also ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:06.90. Junior Craig Arner was the runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.56 seconds while sophomore Mike Hofmann was seventh in the event.

In other running events for the Greyhounds, freshman Tyler Dwyer  finished eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:06.96 while sophomore Alec Duncan was ninth in the mile run at 4:51.62. Sophomore Darren Johnson was eighth in the 55-meter dash in 7.15 seconds.

Moravian will return to action on Saturday, February 23rd as the men's squad looks to win its fifth Landmark Conference championship and the women's team seeks its sixth straight in the 2013 meet hosted by Susquehanna University starting at 10:00 a.m.
