Myers' Career Jump Leads Men to 6th Place Finish at ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --- Freshman Albert Myers had a career best on his final attempt in the long jump to help the Moravian College men's track & field team to a sixth place finish at the 2013 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Springfield College Friday.

The Greyhounds scored 34 points, placing sixth of 65 teams scoring points in the meet. Bates College won the team title with 79 points while SUNY Oneonta was second with 55 points and Tufts University finished third at 45.33 points.

Myers was fourth in the long jump with a career best 7.11 meters (23 feet, four inches) on the last of his six attempts in the competition to score five points for Moravian. Myers previous best was 6.74 meters. Myers' jump is tied for 23rd in the nation this year but just the top 20 competitors in each event will compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships next week.

Junior Kristopher Joint was sixth in the long jump at 7.02 meters (23 feet, 1/2 inch) to garner another three points for the Greyhounds.

Myers also ran on Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad with seniors Travis King and Justin Taylor and sophomore Travis Dorsa that placed 34th in a time of 44.40 seconds.

Moravian will find out on Sunday how many competitors will be heading to The University of Wisconsin La Crosse for the NCAA Division III Championships beginning on Thursday, May 23rd.
