23 Track & Field Student-Athletes Honored by Landmark Conference

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams have had a total of 23 student-athletes honored by the Landmark Conference for their performances at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships last weekend at Goucher College.

Second-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann and his staff of assistant coaches - Dustin Rommel (sprints/jumps), Mike Lawyrk (pole vault), Bob Luciano (javelin), Joanna Kovacs (throws), Steve Rahn (hurdles), Alyssa Wert (sprints/relays) and Gary Zack (javelin) earned the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year honors as they led both teams to their sixth consecutive Landmark Conference titles in the six-year history of the conference.

The men's team had senior Donald Noble named the Track Athlete of the Year and freshman Albert Myers honored as the Rookie of the Year. Noble was a member of the Landmark All-Conference First Team for wins in the 1,500-meter, 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs while Myers was on the First Team after he won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the 4x100-meter relay with seniors Travis King and Justin Taylor and sophomore Travis Dorsa.

Senior Kristopher Joint earned First Team with victories in the long jump and triple jump while senior Jonathan Heberling earned First Team for winning the high jump for a second consecutive year. Junior David Cariello was on First Team with wins in the pole vault and 110-meter high hurdles, and he was on the Second Team in the long jump while sophomore Alec Duncan was on the First Team with a victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Sophomore Dillon Farrell earned Second Team honors with a runner-up finish in the 10,000-meter run while freshman Ryan Karnopp was the runner-up in the pole vault to earn Second Team accolades. King earned Second Team honors in the triple jump with a runner-up finish to Joint after winning the event the last three years. Junior Timothy Lorah was the runner-up in the javelin while sophomore Parker Munson was the runner-up in the discus as both student-athletes earned spots on the Second Team.

Senior Micah Leonard led the women's team as she earned Field Athlete of the Year honors for the second time this year after earning the honor indoors. Leonard was an All-Conference First Team selection by winning the long jump and triple jump, the latter for the fourth straight year, and she was on the Second Team for a runner-up finish in the high jump.

Sophomore Brielle Sutter was named the Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 400-meter dash and leading the winning 4x100-meter relay squad of sophomore Morgan Redmond and freshmen Corinne Glass and Christelle Reglas. Sutter also earned Second Team honors with runner-up finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, the long jump and the 4x400-meter relay with Redmond, Glass and junior Allison Vanek.

Glass was named to the First Team with wins in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes while sophomore Hailey Kester won the pole vault and sophomore Allissa Hoffman captured the javelin to earn First Team honors.

Redmond was on the Second Team after placing second in the 100-meter hurdles while Vanek was on the Second Team for a runner-up finish in the pole vault. Sophomore Devon Bedell made the Second Team as the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while freshman Karlee Corvasce was second in the javelin to make the Second Team.
