TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior guard Maddie Capuano has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Capuano helped the Greyhounds to a 3-0 week including the championship at the Kean (N.J.) University Classic by averaging 27.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, and she was also named as the Most Valuable Player at the Kean Classic after scoring 50 points in two games. Capuano connected on 27-of-56 field goal attempts (48.2 percent), 13-of-29 three-pointers (44.8 percent) and 16-of-19 free throws (84.2 percent) while playing 102 of 120 minutes during the week.

Capuano opened the week with a career-high 33 points in a 71-55 win over Penn State Lehigh Valley, and she added four assists and two rebounds in 27 minutes of action in the contest. She then had 30 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes as the Greyhounds rallied for a 69-63 victory versus The University of Lynchburg (Va.) in the opening round at Kean. Capuano finished the week with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 61-58 win over Eastern University in the championship game while playing 38 minutes.

"Maddie had as good of a three game week that I have seen in all my years of coaching," stated 32nd-year Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She loves to compete but more importantly, Maddie wants to win. Maddie has worked hard in all aspects of her game. We are expecting a big junior year from her. The team has followed Maddie's lead and she has helped us compete and be successful in the early going. The key will be to continue her high level of play and stay consistent as the season progresses."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, November 20 when the squad hosts DeSales University in a non-conference game tipping off at 6:05 p.m. in Johnston Hall with a live television broadcast by Service Electric TV-2 Sports.
