Walls Nets Career High But Hounds Take First Loss of 2018-19 Against DeSales

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College senior forward/guard Emily Walls tossed in a career-high 19 points but it wasn't enough for the Greyhounds to overcome a hot shooting DeSales University squad as the Bulldogs took the annual Tuesday before Thanksgiving game in Johnston Hall by a final of 99-58.

Walls hit double figures for the first time in her career and was 7-for-9 from the floor including 2-for-2 beyond the three-point line, and she added a pair rebounds for the Hounds, who are now 4-1 on the season. Junior guard Maddie Capuano tossed in 12 points to go with four rebounds and three assists while junior guard Karlie Brogan had 11 points, six boards and a pair of steals.

Junior forward Nadine Ewald had a team-high seven rebounds to go with eight points and three assists while sophomore guard Jennifer McClave added five points and a pair of assists. Sophomore forward Jordan Beneducci had three rebounds and two points while junior guard Brooke Santy added three assists, two rebounds and a point and freshman guard Kayla Yoegel pulled down two boards.

Moravian struggled shooting the ball, making just 18-of-54 field goal attempts, 5-of-14 three-pointers and 17-of-22 free throws in the contest.

DeSales took an early 6-0 lead before Walls hit her first three-pointer of the game. Later in the first quarter, Capuano hit from long range as the Greyhounds trailed 19-14 but the Bulldogs held a 24-15 advantage after 10 minutes of action.

Walls started the scoring in the second period before DeSales ran off 18 straight points to take control for the rest of the evening.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, November 28 when the squad heads to Immaculata University for a non-conference game tipping off at 6:00 p.m.
