RADNOR, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team had a 4-0 lead through six innings and held on for a 4-3 win over host Cabrini University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Senior shortstop Paul Croyle drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Graduate student second baseman Chris Pow followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to bring Coyle home
  • Moravian extended the advantage to 4-0 with a three-run sixth inning. Pow connected on a leadoff single, and he moved to third on a double off the bat of junior right fielder Nick Henry. Freshman catcher Wyatt Harrar hit an RBI infield single to score Pow while Henry raced home on an RBI ground out by graduate student third baseman Justin Otero. Harrar scored what would be the winning run on an RBI infield single from senior centerfielder Matt Madigan
  • The Cavaliers scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to pull within a run while the Moravian pitching staff stranded seven Cabrini runners on base over the last three innings

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had nine hits in the game with Madigan, Henry and senior left fielder David Olsakowski each going 2-for-4. Madigan drove in a run, Henry scored once and both Henry and Olsakowski hit doubles
  • Pow and Harrar were each 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI while senior first baseman Cole Cherkas had the Hounds other hit
  • Croyle drew a pair of walks and scored once while Otero contributed an RBI
  • Senior David Ciaccio made the start on the mound for the Blue & Grey and improved to 3-0 on the year as he allowed three unearned runs on seven hits and two walks to go with three strikeouts in 6.2 innings of action. Freshman Nick Leonard tossed two thirds of an inning with two hits and a walk while freshman Caden Ward recorded his first collegiate save with a pair of strikeouts and two hits in 1.2 innings of work
