TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior first baseman Cole Cherkas has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Cherkas led the Greyhounds at the plate with a .400 average in a 3-2 week for Moravian in Landmark Conference action. Cherkas was 5-for-16 during the week with four runs, a double, three homers and nine RBIs. He had a 1.067 slugging percentage, and Cherkas drew four walks for a .500 on-base percentage. He recorded 34 putouts and one assist in 35 chances in the field. Cherkas connected on three homers in four at-bats including the game winning homer in the eighth inning of a 3-1 win over Elizabethtown College.

"Cole had a great week at the plate coming up big late in games," noted Head Coach Douglas Coe. "His ability to drive the ball out of the park is something you can't teach, and he has done a phenomenal job being a consistent power threat in our lineup."

The Greyhounds, who are 13-16 overall and 7-9 in Landmark Conference action, are slated to return to action on Tuesday, April 16 when the squad hosts Drew University in a Landmark Conference game beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Gillespie Field.
