Moravian Falls to Scranton in Final Game of 2024 Campaign

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team fell to host The University of Scranton, 10-2, in Landmark Conference action Sunday to close out the 2024 season. 

How It Happened

  • The Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, and Scranton added three runs in the fifth and five in sixth frame for a 10-0 advantage
  • The Greyhounds got onto the scoreboard in the top of the seventh when senior shortstop Paul Croyle doubled and eventually raced home on a wild pitch
  • The Blue & Grey added a run in the top of the ninth to finish the scoring. Freshman right fielder Jared Ferguson reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base before scoring on an RBI single from graduate student second baseman Chris Pow

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had eight hits in the game with Croyle going 2-for-4 with a double and a run
  • Pow added a hit and a run while freshman catcher Wyatt Harrar, junior third baseman Nick Henry, sophomore first baseman Sean Superka, senior left fielder Connor Wengryn and senior center fielder David Olsakowski all had one hit with Harrar adding a stolen base
  • Ferguson scored a run and had a pair of stolen bases
  • Senior David Ciaccio made the start on the mound, and he allowed five runs on five hits and three walks to go with a pair of strikeouts. Graduate student Noah Ingalls gave up four runs on two hits and a walk while senior Rony Minier tossed an inning with an unearned run on a hit. Freshman Nick Leonard pitched two innings with a walk and strikeout
