LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian University men's cross country team had senior Shane Houghton compete in the 2021 NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Spaulding University at E.P. "Tom Sawyer" Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

How It Happened

  • Houghton qualified for his first NCAA Division III National Championship appearance after finishing sixth in the NCAA Division III Metro Regional last weekend
  • Houghton started out the race and was at 149th through the first checkpoint after 1,000 meters before slipping back to 199th at the midway point of the race
  • Houghton crossed the finish line with the best time of his career for 8,000 meters, posting a time of 25:33.0 to place 204th of 289 runners. Houghton's time took nine seconds off his previous best from the NCAA Metro Regional
