Greyhounds Shut Out Elizabethtown to Begin 2023-24 Landmark Conference Slate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout of host Elizabethtown College Sunday in a match played indoors at the Bower Center to begin 2023-24 Landmark Conference season

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds swept the three doubles matches with the freshmen duo of Ali Bender and Leah Zolotareva posting an 8-0 victory at first doubles for the opening point of the match. Senior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Izzy Szmodis earned an 8-1 triumph at second doubles while of senior Emily Masters and freshman Sydney Shifman completed with sweep with an 8-1 win at third doubles
  • Zolotareva began singles action with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles while Szmodis recorded the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at second singles. Bender earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles while Shifman registered an 8-1 victory at fourth singles. Stapleton turned in an 8-0 triumph at fifth singles while senior Gabby Martin finished the match with an 8-0 win at sixth singles
