TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman Leah Zolotareva has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.
Zolotareva, who earned her second Landmark Conference honor of the season, helped Moravian begin the spring portion of the 2024 season with a 9-0 sweep of NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. She combined with freshman Ali Bender for an 8-1 win at first doubles, and Zolotareva earned the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at first singles.
"Leah is an outstanding player with a strong work ethic," commented Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "She had a great performance last week to mark the beginning of our spring season. I look forward to watching her compete against the Landmark schools."
The Hounds, who are 5-2 on the season, are slated to return to action on Saturday, March 9 when the squad hosts Immaculata University in a non-conference match beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
