Hounds Earn Sixth Consecutive Victory with Defeat of Juniata

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad defeated visiting Juniata College, 7-2, in Landmark Conference action in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse Saturday as the Greyhounds earned their sixth consecutive victory.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds led 2-1 after doubles action. The tandem of senior Emily Masters and freshman Sydney Shifman were first to finish with an 8-2 win at third doubles while the duo of seniors Mara Stapleton and sophomore Izzy Szmodis completed an 8-4 victory at second doubles moments later. The Eagles earned the point at first doubles in a tiebreaker
  • Juniata knotted the match at 2-2 with a victory at first singles while the Blue & Grey moved back in front with a straight sets win from freshman Ali Bender at third singles. Shifman made it 4-2 with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at fourth singles while Stapleton earned the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles. Szmodis finished off a three-set win at second singles by a 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 score while senior Gabby Martin won 8-2 at sixth singles for the final point
