DiGiacomo, Moyer & Sinnig Selected Football Captains for 2013

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Seniors Julian DiGiacomo and Robbie Moyer and junior Ricky Sinnig have been selected as the captains for the 2013 Moravian College football season.

The Greyhounds will open their ten-game season on Saturday, September 7th in a non-conference game at Ithaca College kicking off at 12:00 p.m., and Moravian's first home contest of the season is scheduled for Saturday, September 21st when the squad hosts Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins University on Family Day at 2:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.

DiGiacomo will be in his third season as a starter on the offensive line at left tackle for the Greyhounds this fall. He has played in 21 games in his career including 19 starts over the last two years.

"Julian has really stepped up since the end of last season, and has taken a hold of this new leadership position," stated Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn, who is entering his third season at the helm this fall. "Being such a young team, especially on offense, Julian's experience and attitude are going to do a lot for this team."

Moyer, who was also one of Moravian's captains in 2012, has seen action in ten games since transferring to the school after his freshman year. Moyer, a quarterback, has completed 46 of 111 passes for 350 yards with one touchdown, and he has also run for 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his career as a Greyhound.

"Robbie has already proven that he is an excellent leader, having been one of our captains last season," Pukyszn said. "Robbie's team-first attitude has earned him the utmost respect from every player and coach in this program."

Sinnig, a defensive back, moved into the starting lineup as a strong safety last fall, and he had 53 tackles with 32 solo stops. He also had three interceptions that included 26 return yards.

"Ricky came from a nationally ranked high school program, so he knew how to conduct himself in a winning way the minute he stepped on this campus," explained Pukszyn. "The rest of his teammates can see this, and have followed his lead. Ricky's mental and physical make-up are exactly what you look for in a captain, and the fact that he is only a junior is an added bonus, since he'll be here for a couple more years."

Coach Pukszyn and his staff are expecting 110 players to return to campus for preseason camp beginning on August 15th including 64 returning letterwinners and 17 starters.
