ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- Senior Jim Maru from the Moravian College golf team has been selected as the Empire 8 Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance last week.

Maru began the week and the 2015-16 season last Monday with a round of 79 at Woodstone Country Club in the Greyhounds annual Fall Invitational as he finished 18th of 89 golfers. This past weekend, Maru fired back-to-back two-over par rounds of 74 in the opening 36 holes of the 2015-16 Empire 8 Conference Championship at Timber Banks Country Club in Baldwinsville, New York. Maru has a two-stroke lead after the first two rounds, and the tournament will be completed at the Hershey Country Club in April.

"Jim played really solid golf over the weekend," commented Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "Other than a couple of bad holes, he really hung in there. I know he has the potential to win the entire tournament so it was nice to see him get off to a solid start."

Moravian is slated return to action on Monday, September 28 at the Messiah College Falcon Classic that will be played at the Carlisle Country Club.
