Golfers Shoot 295 to Win Messiah Falcon Classic

CARLISLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team fired a team score of 295, winning the Messiah College Falcon Classic by 12 strokes at the Carlisle Country Club Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds shot under 300 as a team for the first time since the Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational on September 22, 2008, and Moravian defeated rival Muhlenberg College by 12 strokes on Monday as the Mules were second of the 12 teams in the tournament with a 307.

Senior Evan Dickinson finished second of the 62 golfers in the field with a one-under par round of 70, the first under-par round by a Moravian golfer since Dickinson fired a 69 in a tri-match with DeSales University and Cabrini College on April 23, 2013. Dickinson's round on Monday featured five birdies and 10 pars on a course he is familiar with growing up in Carlisle.

Junior Dan Leppert  shot a career low round of 74 to tie for third in the tournament, and his three-over par round included two birdies and 11 pars. Senior Jim Maru tied for fifth with a round of 75 as he fired two birdies and 12 pars while sophomore Kevin Kunkle tied for 11th with a 76 that included three birdies and eight pars. Junior Anthony Beltrami rounded out the Moravian lineup with an 80 Monday afternoon to tie for 24th as he carded three birdies and three pars.

Moravian will have two weeks off before the squad returns to action on Monday, October 12 at the Muhlenberg College Fall Invitational at the Lehigh Country Club.
