Farrell Named Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md.--- Senior Dillon Farrell of the Moravian College men's cross country team has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance at the first meet of the season this past weekend.

Farrell took a first place finish at the Lehigh University Invitational this past Friday evening with an impressive 18:26.61 time on the 6,000-meter course. The Greyhounds would capture 71 points and a second place finish overall at behind the host Mountain Hawks.

"One of the goals this year for Dillon is to break under 24:30 for his 8k time, so the plan Friday was to be able to run that pace over 6k which he just about did," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. Baumann in his fourth year went on to say, "We also wanted to work on being a little more patient in racing and he ended up holding back the first 2.5 miles before deciding to make a move to break open the field a little more, so it was a good start to the season to be able to successfully work on both objectives."

The Greyhounds have a three week recovery period before the next meet on September, 20 at Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational.
