Farrell Garners Another Landmark Men's Athlete of the Week Award

TOWSON, Md. --- For the second time this season, Moravian College senior Dillon Farrell has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance on the race course.

Farrell, who was also the inaugural winner this season back on September 2, led the Greyhounds at the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational on Saturday. Farrell ran the shorter 4,000-meter course, finishing fourth of 264 runners with a time of 12:01.25. He was the top NCAA Division III runner in the race, placing behind three Division II runners.

"We were pretty happy with the race," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "The leaders took it out in about 4:48 or the first mile, which was a little faster than Dillon is ready for at this point in the season since we've been focusing on a lot of base work to this point. However, he hung on well as the course got hillier and had a great last 800, running about 2:10 for the last portion of the race.

"It wound up being 13 seconds faster than he ran last year, and we ran this meet a week earlier than we did in 2013 which are both encouraging signs that he's well ahead of where he was 12 months ago. We were also happy to see that he was the top Division III finisher in the field. Dillon finished within eight seconds of the winner who has finished 6th at the ACCs in cross country and won the Division II NCAA mile last March, so he was running close to some very distinguished company," Baumann finished.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 4 at the 42nd Annual Brooks Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
