Schall Selected as Landmark Offensive Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Junior midfielder/forward Kirsten Schall of the Moravian College women's soccer team has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Schall scored three goals and added an assist as the Greyhounds posted a 1-1 record in non-conference action.

Schall put a perfect corner kick on the head of junior defender Kaylan Bruzzone to open the scoring in Moravian's 3-1 victory at Ursinus College last Wednesday. Another well placed corner kick by Schall led to the second goal of the match, and she found the back of the net midway through the second half to finish the scoring.

In the Greyhounds' home opener, Schall netted both goals in a 3-2 loss to DeSales University. Schall gave the Hounds an early 1-0 lead as she bent a direct kick into the net in the 16th minute, and she also finished the scoring in the 84th minute when she intercepted a ball and broke in on goal all alone for her fourth goal of the young season.

"Kirsten continues to dominate our attack," stated Head Coach Brienne Smith. "She is so explosive with the ball at her feet and most teams just can't keep up with her. She is also deadly on set pieces, both out of the corner at the top of the box. She had three very solid and composed goals and her assist on Kaylan's goal was a perfect service. This week was a strong showing for Kirsten, but we are hopeful that her best is yet to come."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, September 10 in a non-conference match with Neumann University beginning at 4:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
