KANSAS CITY, Ks. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team was among 593 college women's soccer teams recognized with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.

The Greyhounds posted a team GPA of 3.28 under head coach Brienne Smith and last year's squad also included defender Eileen Black, who earned NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Third Team honors this past January. A total of three team members earned spots on the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll a year ago while maintaining over a 3.20 GPA.

"I am very fortunate to have such a hardworking and intelligent group," Smith stated. "This is our third consecutive award, and I know the team is very proud of that. At this point, it is more of an expectation than anything else. They work hard on and off the field, and it always nice to have those efforts recognized."

A total of 862 college soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year. The program runs one school year behind, and this season's (2013-14) honorees will be announced next November. The Moravian women's soccer team finished the 2013 season with a 7-10-3 record while reaching the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Tournament.
