Greyhounds Split 2nd Day at Buttermaker Tournament

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches in pool play on the second day of the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College, falling to DeSales University, 3-0, before defeating Neumann University, 3-2, to close out the tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs defeated the Greyhounds in a preview of their non-conference match next Tuesday 26-24, 25-17, 25-8. Freshman middle blocker Taylor Kornmann led Moravian with ten kills and two blocks in the match while sophomore middle blocker Victoria Bobyak had seven kills and four blocks. Senior setter Kelly Brown paced the Greyhounds' offense with 25 assists to go with three digs while sophomore outside hitter Lauren Hostetler had a team high nine digs to go with five kills. Freshman libero Kim Groff added seven digs in the match.

Moravian bounced back with a 25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 22-25, 15-12 win over the Knights to finish the weekend with a 2-2 record at the Buttermaker Tournament and a 4-4 overall mark. Hostetler had a team high 15 kills to go with 11 digs and three service aces while Brown, who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team for the second straight week, had 43 assists, ten digs and a pair of service aces in the victory. Kornmann had 14 kills and seven blocks for the Greyhounds while Bobyak added seven kills and three blocks. Freshman right side hitter Lauren Piccinich had six kills and three blocks for Moravian while junior outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo added five kills and seven digs.

Moravian will host DeSales in non-conference action on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
