Women's Volleyball Drops Two at Landmark Round Robin

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 matches on the first day of the second Landmark Conference Round Robin of the 2013 season Saturday hosted by The Catholic University of America.

The Greyhounds dropped their opening match to No. 10 Juniata College by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-11. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Hostetler led Moravian with nine kills and a service ace while freshman middle blocker Taylor Kornmann added five kills and a block. Senior setter Kelly Brown paced the Greyhounds with 19 assists to go with eight digs and a pair of service aces.

Sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Giardina had a team-high 13 digs in the contest while sophomore middle blocker Victoria Bobyak contributed four kills and a service ace.

The host Cardinals posted a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 win in the final match of the day over the Greyhounds. Hostetler once again led the Greyhounds with six kills to go with nine digs and a service ace while junior outside hitter Taylor Jennings also added six kills. Kornmann had five kills and three blocks while freshman right side hitter Jaclyn Smith contributed four kills and two blocks.

Brown dished out 25 assists in the match to go along with seven digs while Giardina had a team high 15 digs. Bobyack added three kills and three blocks for the Greyhounds.

Moravian will close out its 2013 Landmark Conference schedule on Sunday, October 20 when the squad plays Susquehanna University in Washington, D.C. at 10:30 a.m.

The Greyhounds may have their match with The United States Merchant Marine Academy rescheduled at a later date. The Mariners, who were supposed to host the round robin this weekend, have missed competition both Landmark Round Robin Weekend's due to the government shutdown.
