Kornmann Tabbed as Corvias ECAC Division III South Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. --- Moravian College freshman middle blocker Taylor Kornmann has been selected as the Corvias ECAC Division III South Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Kornmann hit .469 in three matches last week as the Greyhounds posted a 2-1 record including a 3-1 win over rival Muhlenberg College and a loss to No. 18 Eastern University. Kornmann had 43 kills and just five errors in 81 total attempts during the 10 sets, and she added 12 blocks including eight solo stops.

Kornmann had a career high 18 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Swarthmore College, and she had a .560 hitting percentage with 15 kills and six blocks in the victory over Muhlenberg that gave Moravian a 4-2 lead in the annual Matte Award standings.

"Taylor has been working very hard this season with the move to the middle," stated Head Coach Shelley Bauder. "Last week, Taylor and setter Kelly Brown had a strong connection, which is great to see since it isn't easy to set a lefty middle. I think Taylor showed what she is capable of, and we're really looking forward to what she can accomplish during the rest of her career."

Kornmann completed her rookie campaign with team highs of 352 kills, 87 blocks and a .295 hitting percentage while playing in 128 of the team's 131 sets during the year. Kornmann also had 29 digs and five service aces this fall.

The Greyhounds completed its 2013 season with a 3-1 loss to the University of Scranton in the Landmark Conference First Round Wednesday evening to finish the year with a 12-22 record.
