TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team was picked in a playoff position, placing fourth in the 2015 Landmark Conference preseason poll selected by the conference's coaches.

Defending champion Juniata College was tabbed to win another conference title while Susquehanna University was second and the University of Scranton finished third. The Hounds had 29 points in the poll, four behind Scranton and three points ahead of The Catholic University of America for the final playoff spot with the conference tournament featuring four teams.

Head Coach Shelley Bauder, who has a career mark of 445-283 as she enters her 23rd season this fall, returns nearly all of her starting lineup this fall led by two-time Landmark All-Conference junior middle hitter Taylor Kornmann.

"We are pleased to have been chosen in the poll as a playoff contender in this very competitive Landmark Conference," commented Bauder. "The team is looking forward to working hard and challenging each conference opponent."

Kornmann ranked fifth in the conference with 338 kills, fourth in kills per set (2.86), and fifth in points with 391.5. Senior setter Megan Szkolnicki is back to run the offense after leading the Hounds with 1,024 assists and 58 service aces last fall while sophomore outfielder Mary Zacher had 282 kills and 323 digs in her collegiate debut a year ago. Sophomore libero Jean Markovic returns for the Greyhounds defense after finishing the 2014 campaign with 516 digs, ranking her fourth among her counterparts in the conference. Senior defensive specialist Andrea Giardina is also back to help control the back line with 189 digs.

The Greyhounds return to campus on Wednesday, August 19 to begin preseason camp. The squad will open its 2015 regular season on Tuesday, September 1 when the squad welcomes DeSales University to Johnston Hall for a 7:00 p.m. match.
