Moravian Begins 2021-22 with Sixth Place in The Gauntlet

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. --- The Moravian University golf team began the fall portion of its 2021-22 season with the two-day, 36-hole The Gauntlet hosted by Premier College Events Saturday and Sunday at Olde Homestead Golf Club.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds had a two-day team score of 619 to finish in sixth place, one stroke behind Goucher College. York (Pa.) College took first place as a team with a 36-hole score of 594
  • Moravian had been in fourth place after the opening round on Saturday with an opening day of round of 310 before shooting a 309 on Sunday
  • The tournament was originally scheduled to be played at Shawnee Inn & Resort but the flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Ida made parts of the course unplayable and moved the tournament to Olde Homestead Golf Club

Moravian Results

  • Freshman TJ Bohl led the Greyhounds individually as he placed 16th overall of 58 golfers and tied for 15th in total score with a 36-hole total of 153. Bohl shot an opening round 78 with three birdies and eight pars, and he fired a three-over par 75 on Sunday that included one birdie and 13 pars
  • Graduate student Nick Kuhn was 20th overall and tied for 17th with a tournament total of 154. Kuhn returned after sitting out last season with a 79 in the first round that had one birdie and 12 pars, and he carded a 75 on Sunday with three birdies and 10 pars
  • Juniors Andrew Hozza also had a 154 for the tournament and was 22nd overall. Hozza fired a 77 on each day of the weekend with one birdie and 13 pars on Saturday and 15 pars on Sunday
  • Graduate student Thomas Lakata placed 35th with a 159 for the weekend. Lakata had a 76 on Saturday with 14 pars, and he carded an 83 on Sunday with a birdie and nine pars
  • Sophomore Jack Wagner rounded out the Moravian line-up and took 49th overall with a 170. He opened with tournament with an 88 that included one birdie and five pars, and he had an 82 in the second round with two birdies and 10 pars
