DURHAM, N.C. --- Sophomore Kristopher Joint of the Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team posted a career best distance in the triple jump to lead the Greyhounds at the non-scoring Duke University Twilight meet Sunday evening.
Joint posted an ECAC qualifying distance of 14.33 meters (47 feet, 1/4 inch), tied for the third best mark in school history. The jump also moved joint up to a tie for 23rd on the 2012 Track & Field Results Reporting System list to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Those men ranked in the top 20 for individuals and top 16 for relays at the end of the season will compete at the national meet.
Joint also finished eighth in the long jump at 6.34 meters (20 feet, 9 3/4 inches) while junior Travis King was seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 13.72 meters (45 feet, 1/4 inches). Senior Timothy Layng was the runner-up in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 4.80 meters (15 feet, nine inches).
On the track, freshman Dillon Farrell was 16th in the 1,500-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:56.85, the second fastest time in school history, while senior Matthew Lutcza placed 17th in an ECAC qualifying mark of 3:57.09, the fourth best time in the record books. Senior Steve Ambrosi placed 14th in the 800-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:52.87, his best of the season.
Senior Kyle D'Angelo had his best time of the year in the 400-meter dash in 50.67 seconds while junior Vincent McDowell took 17th in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.80 seconds.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Monday, May 14th at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet.
