Greyhounds Land Fifth in Landmark Coaches Poll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team was selected to finish fifth overall in the Landmark Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

The Hounds finished the voting with 26 votes behind the first-place team Elizabethtown College, who received five first-place votes and 64 overall votes. Finishing second was the University of Scranton, who collected two first-place votes and another 56 votes while Juniata College grabbed third place with one-first place vote and 46 in total. Rounding out the top four is the Catholic University of America with 40 tallies.

"The ladies are shaping up well and are proving to be tough competitors," said first year Head Coach Alan Heverly. "Though we are picked to be fifth in the standings, the matches in the league are always close. I feel they will have an edge when it comes to match play because the tone in our practices is intense. The ladies are working hard and it is showing because they are acquiring new skills!"

The Blue and Grey return six players from last season's 8-8 team, including junior Brittney Eady, who was named to the Landmark Conference All-Conference First Team in singles.

The Greyhounds will play next on their spring break trip in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, March 6 versus Roger Williams (R.I.) University.
