BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team earned its first Landmark Conference win of the 2016 season Wednesday as the Greyhounds topped visiting Drew University, 5-4, at Hoffman Courts.
The Greyhounds, who are now 5-4 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action, held a 2-1 lead after doubles action. The duo of senior Courtnie Lambert and sophomore Caitlin Adams was first off the courts with an 8-1 win at third doubles while junior Brittney Eady and sophomore Skylar Oliwa made it 2-0 for the Blue and Grey with an 8-2 victory at first doubles. Juniors Aisling Doyle and Roberta Scantlebury nearly helped Moravian earn a sweep in doubles action before falling, 8-6, at second doubles.
Eady pushed the Hounds' lead to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles, and Lambert would make it 4-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at third singles. However, the Rangers won the next three singles matches that finished to tie the contest at 4-4 after Doyle fell in a three-set match at fifth singles. Adams would post a 6-4, 6-0 victory at fourth singles to clinch the win for Moravian.
The Greyhounds are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday, April 2 when they host Goucher College in a Landmark Conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
