Greyhounds Split Tri-Match at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team split a tri-match hosted by Wilson College Saturday, falling to Albright College, 3-2, before defeating the host Phoenix, 3-0.

How It Happened - Albright

  • The opening set saw the Greyhounds hold an early 7-4 lead, and the squad was up 23-13 before eventually posting a 25-19 set victory to take a 1-0 edge
  • The Hounds raced out to a 7-2 advantage in the second game and stretching the lead to 21-14. The Blue & Grey captured the game 25-21 for a 2-0 lead
  • The third set went back-and-forth with the Lions needing an extra point for the 26-24 win to cut Moravian's lead to 2-1
  • The Hounds had an early edge in the fourth set, and Moravian bounced back to tie the contest at 23-23 after Albright had taken the lead. However, the Lions scored the final two points of the set for a 25-23 victory to tie the contest at 2-2
  • Once again, Moravian had an early lead in the fifth set, and the Blue & Grey were up 14-13 when Albright ran off three straight points for the 16-14 win to capture the match 

How It Happened - Wilson

  • Moravian jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first set with Wilson and led the entire game for a 25-18 win to take a 1-0 edge
  • The Phoenix scored the first three points in the second set and led 9-4 before the Hounds started to rally. The Blue & Grey eventually won 25-20 for a 2-0 advantage
  • Moravian dominated the third set, taking it by a final score of 25-7 to clinch the match 

Inside the Numbers

  • Graduate student outside hitter Kat Wilt led the Greyhounds with 18 kills on the day including 17 against Albright, and she added four digs and a block while freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber added 16 kills, six digs, five blocks and a pair of assists
  • Freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner posted 12 kills, 15 digs, four service aces and three assists while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero contributed 11 kills, three blocks and two service aces
  • Junior right side hitter Makenzie Krasley had seven kills and six digs while freshman outside hitter Julia Zaprazny made six kills
  • Junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan, sophomore outside hitter Caroline Melillo and freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky all had four kills while senior outside hitter Sophie Bauer added three kills
  • Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick recorded 43 assists, 17 digs, five kills and a pair of service aces while freshman defensive specialist Sam Love added 18 digs and six assists
  • Senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow had 16 digs and two service aces while senior defensive specialist Emily Szy had 15 digs and four service aces
  • Junior setter Emily Solomon recorded 17 assists and two blocks while freshman setter Molly Hughes contributed eight assists and senior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso had seven digs
