Greyhounds Sweep Marywood in Non-Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team recorded a 3-0 sweep of visiting Marywood University in non-conference action in Johnston Hall Tuesday evening. 

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds took a quick 5-1 lead in the opening, and the Blue & Grey pushed the edge to 13-3. Moravian went on to win the set 25-12 for a 1-0 advantage
  • The Hounds once again had an early edge in the second set at 7-2, and Moravian led 18-7 before the Pacers scored eight straight points to pull with 18-15. After Marywood made it a one-point set at 20-19, the Greyhounds scored the final five points for a 25-19 set win and a 2-0 lead
  • The third set saw the Pacers with the early 7-4 lead before the Hounds moved ahead. The set was a one-point game at 15-14 for Moravian when the Greyhounds pushed out to a 24-19 advantage. Marywood closed within two before the Hounds earned the winning point for a 25-22 set victory to clinch the match

Inside the Numbers

  • Freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner led Moravian with nine kills to go with 13 digs and a service aces while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero added eight kills
  • Junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan, freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky and junior right side hitter Makenzie Krasley all had four kills while freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber contributed three kills and a pair of blocks
  • Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick controlled the Moravian offense with 29 assists, and she added eight digs, four kills and four service aces while freshman defensive specialist Sam Love added 18 digs, five assists and two service aces
  • Senior outside hitter Sophie Bauer registered two kills while senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow had nine digs and senior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso posted five digs
