Moravian Finishes 17th in White Race at Annual Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's cross country squad placed 17th of 41 schools in the College Women's 6K race at the annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University Friday. 

How It Happened

  • The Hounds registered 448 points while Widener University took first in the third of the three scored college races with 84 points
  • Freshman Tara Smurla completed the 6,000-meter course with a personal best time of 23:15.1 to finish 32nd of the 331 runners in the race. Sophomore Amber Poniktera placed 57th in a time of 23:37.5 while senior Rachel Byrne took 72nd with a PR time of 23:49.2. Rounding out the scorers for the Moravian were sophomore Catie Lovett, who was 145th in a PR time of 25:05.2, and freshman Meghan Myers, who placed 160th in a PR time of 25:17.3
  • The Hounds had five other runners in the White 6K with sophomore Lily Mingora taking 162nd in a PR time of 25:18.3, freshman Tori Champagne finishing 10 spots back in a PR time of 25:27.2, freshman Grace Tirabassi taking 179th in a PR time of 25:33.8, sophomore Ally Meeks placing 197th in a PR time of 25:49.5 and sophomore Rylie Murphy finishing 221st in a time of 26:33.9
  • The Greyhounds had three runners in the Women's Open 6K race Friday morning with senior Peyton Herbst running a time of 26:41.0, sophomore Gillian Schoenenberg finishing in a PR time of 26:45.5 and sophomore Hannah Kolonoski recording a PR time of 26:46.8
