Golfers in 6th after Opening Round of Empire 8 Championship

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. --- The Moravian College golf team is in sixth place of eight schools after the opening round of the 2013-14 Empire 8 Conference Championships Saturday.

The Greyhounds posted a team score of 324 in the opening round at the Yahnundasis Country Club, and Moravian sits 24 strokes behind leader St. John Fisher College after the first of four rounds.

Sophomore Jim Maru had a six-over-par opening round of 77, and is tied for 11th of the 48 golfers in the tournament. Freshman Aaron Brown carded an 80 on Saturday and is tied roe 19th place while sophomore Evan Dickinson is tied for 27th after an opening round of 83. Freshman Dan Leppert had an 84 on Saturday, and is one of four golfers field for 30th while sophomore James Lobb and freshman Andrew Garino each had opening rounds of 93 in the tournament.

The 2013-14 Empire 8 Conference Championship will continue with a second round at Yahnundasis Country Club on Sunday, September 21. The final two rounds of the tournament will take place at the Hershey Country Club in April.
