Golfers Remain in 6th at Empire 8 Championships

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. --- The Moravian College golf team remained sixth of eight schools after the second round of the 2013-14 Empire 8 Conference Championships played Sunday at the Yahnundasis Country Club.

The Greyhounds turned in a team score of 321 on the second day of the four-round tournament, which was three strokes lower than their opening day score. Moravian sits in sixth at 645 while St. John Fisher College is in first place at 606. The Greyhounds were one of four teams to have a lower team score on Sunday than their opening round.

Sophomore Jim Maru carded a seven-over-par second round of 78, and he is tied for tenth of the 48 golfers in the tournament with a 36-hole sore of 155. Freshman Aaron Brown recorded an 80 for the second straight day on Sunday and is 21st in the tournament at 160 while sophomore Evan Dickinson and freshman Dan Leppert are tied for 27th with two-day scores of 165. Dickinson turned in an 82 on Sunday while Leppert carded an 81 in his second round. Freshman Andrew Garino sits in 44th place with a total of 181 after an 88 on Sunday while sophomore James Lobb had a 94 and is in 46th with 187 for the tournament.

The 2013-14 Empire 8 Conference Championship will with the final two rounds of the tournament taking place at the Hershey Country Club on April 18 and 19.

Moravian will return to action this fall at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Monday, September 30th at the Lehigh Country Club at 12:30 p.m.
